DC Srinagar reviews implementation of self-employment schemes

DM directs all stakeholders to intensify efforts to empower youth through sustainable livelihood opportunities

Srinagar: In order to assess the progress and implementation of various self-employment schemes in the district, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat here on Tuesday.
Addressing the Officers, DC emphasized the importance of working with dedication, zeal, and a proactive approach to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach the intended beneficiaries. He urged all Departments to work in close coordination for the effective implementation of self-employment programmes in the district.
DC reiterated the Administration’s commitment to empowering youth through sustainable livelihood opportunities and directed all the stakeholders to intensify efforts in this regard.
The meeting witnessed participation from key District Officers from the departments engaged in the implementation of self-employment initiatives aimed at promoting livelihood opportunities for the youth and unemployed sections of society.
Earlier, Deputy Director Employment, (DECC) Srinagar, Dr Sheeba Inayat, who also serves as the Nodal Officer for self-employment schemes, gave a detailed presentation outlining the scope, targets, and achievements of different self-employment schemes for the financial year 2024-25.
The presentation highlighted departmental targets and the progress made in each sector.
During the review, existing gaps in implementation were identified, and concerned departments were directed to take corrective measures to ensure smoother execution.
Banks were advised not to reject self-employment scheme applications without valid reasons, ensuring greater support for aspiring entrepreneurs.
General Manager DIC, Hamidia Akhtar, Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Lead District Manager, Nilofer Jan and other concerned Officers were present in the meeting.
