Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance worth lakhs from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs a police party of Police Station Kulgam along with Executive Magistrate Kulgam raided the suspected spot at village Arreh near Islamia Hanfia Institute and apprehended Irfan Ahmad Raina S/o Mushtaq Ahmad R/o Arreh, Kulgam and during search recovered 471 grams of Heroin-like substance valuing in lakhs were recovered from the possession of the said accused who was a arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody!
Stating that a case under FIR No. 34/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam besides initiating further investigations Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to zero-tolerance policy against drug abuse and trafficking, appealing therein people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling or other anti-social activities in their areas.
