Ganderbal: As part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse, the District Administration Ganderbal on Wednesday organized a series of awareness programs under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir campaign, aiming to curb the menace of substance abuse and educate the youth and general public about its harmful impacts.
Awareness camps were held across multiple educational institutions in the district including Government Degree College Ganderbal, BHSS Gund, GHSS Kangan, BHSS Wakura, BHSS Manigam, BHSS Safapora and BHSS Kurhama.
The events witnessed active participation from various departments including Health, Police, Education, Social Welfare and Rural Development.
The primary focus of these camps was to sensitize students, parents, and the wider community on the physical, psychological and social repercussions of drug abuse.
The sessions emphasized early intervention, strong community support systems and the availability of rehabilitation services.
At Government Degree College Ganderbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Fahim Bihaqi graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event saw enthusiastic participation from college staff, students, and community members.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC highlighted the need for collective responsibility and community engagement in eradicating drug abuse. He underscored the importance of education, family support, and active community involvement in both prevention and rehabilitation efforts.
