Budgam Police Detained Eight Notorious Drug Peddlers Under PIT-NDPS Act This Year So Far

Four Detained in March Alone as Police Intensify Crackdown

Budgam: Budgam Police have intensified their ongoing crackdown against drug peddlers, detaining eight notorious individuals under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act so far this year.

Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, in March alone, four more hardcore drug peddlers were detained, taking the total to eight for the year.

Those detained include Nazir Ahmad Sheikh and Farooq Ahmad Sheikh, both residents of Tangnar Chadoora; Mohammad Sultan Bhat and Abdul Hameed Dar, residents of Sholipora; Mohammad Altaf Ganie from Dardpora; Reyaz Ahmad Ahanger from Shandpora Watakuloo; Mehraj Ahmad Mir from Choon Budgam; and Mohammad Rafiq Dar from Russu, it reads.

The statement further reads that these individuals were repeatedly involved in drug smuggling and peddling, posing a serious threat to the youth of the district. Police have taken strict legal action to curb the narcotic trade and are committed to ensuring a drug-free society.

Budgam Police have also urged the public to play an active role in reporting any suspicious narcotic activities. The statement reads that more such actions will follow as part of continued efforts to dismantle the drug network in the region. (JKNS)
