Srinagar: The Department of Urology at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar has taken a significant leap forward in urological cancer care by adopting advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques.
Minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery offers several advantages, including reduced pain and scarring, faster recovery, shorter hospital stays, and lower risk of complications.
Under the Patronage of principal/Dean Prof Dr.Iffat Hassan and leadership of Prof (Dr) Syed Sajjad Nazir, the department has successfully performed numerous laparoscopic surgeries for urological malignancies, including radical nephrectomies, cystectomies, and prostatectomies.
The department’s success is a testament to its patient-centered approach to care, expertise of its surgeons, and availability of advanced technology.
The department plans to introduce the latest technology assisted laparoscopy, which offers even greater precision and control during complex procedures, and train young urologists in these advanced techniques.
The adoption of minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques by GMC Srinagar’s Department of Urology marks a new era in urological cancer care in Kashmir, offering patients a safer, faster, and more effective treatment option.
