Srinagar: The Divisional Magistrate Kokernag has allowed traffic movement of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) up to Harkhand Daksum starting March 18, 2025, while restrictions on movement beyond Harkhand remain in place.

As per an order, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, NHIDCL has cleared snow up to Harkhand Daksum and confirmed that the road is safe for vehicle movement up to this point. The order highlights that local residents depend entirely on tourism for their livelihood, and the current restrictions were negatively impacting transporters and businesses as tourists were not allowed beyond Daksum.

In light of these concerns, the order states that tourist vehicles will now be permitted up to Harkhand, with traffic police managing movement at the designated point. However, no vehicle will be allowed beyond Harkhand, and the situation will be periodically reviewed to assess further relaxation of restrictions.

Authorities have advised tourists to follow all restrictions and comply with instructions issued by the administration and police to ensure their safety and smooth traffic regulation. The order remains in effect until further notice. (JKNS)
