Saifullah Ashiq of Kaprin Shopian Brings Home Bronze Medal from International Wushu Championship

Shopian,: Saifullah Ashiq, a talented Wushu athlete from Khelo india Wushu Centre Shopian Shopian, has made Jammu and Kashmir proud by winning a Bronze medal at the International Wushu Championship held in Greece from February 28 to March 2, 2025.

Saifullah’s journey to success began on February 27, 2025, when he traveled to Delhi before heading to Greece for the championship. Competing against athletes from 24 countries, he showcased his skills and determination, winning his first match against Brazil and his second match against Italy. Unfortunately, an ankle injury during his third match against Armenia prevented him from advancing to the finals. Despite this setback, Saifullah secured the Bronze medal for India.

 

Upon his return to India on March 4, 2025, and his arrival in Shopian on March 6, 2025, Saifullah was warmly welcomed by his family, friends, and community.

 

Saifullah extends his heartfelt gratitude to his mentors and supporters, including Dronacharya Awardee Mr Kuldeep Handoo , Ms. Nuzhat Gul (Secretary, J&K Sports Council), the J&K Sports Council, Mr. Maqsood Rather (Joint Secretary, Wushu Association of J&K), Coach Khelo India Wushu centre shopian Mr Rameez Ahmad and the Khelo India Wushu Centre, Shopian.

 

“The guidance, support and resources provided by my mentors and supporters have played a significant role in my achievements,” Saifullah said. “I am also immensely thankful for the love and encouragement from my family, friends, and community.
