Jammu: In a continued effort to ensure food safety and protect public health, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jammu, Rakesh Kumar, has imposed a penalty of ₹3,64,000 on multiple businesses for violating the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006. The fines were levied against manufacturers, distributors, and retailers found selling substandard and misbranded food products in the district.
Strict action has been taken to uphold food quality standards and prevent the sale of unsafe consumables. Businesses have been reminded to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation in food handling, conduct regular quality checks to prevent contamination and adulteration, ensure accurate labeling and packaging as per FSSAI guidelines, and train staff in safe food handling practices.
All commercial establishments have been directed to comply strictly with food safety regulations to avoid legal consequences. The administration has also issued a stern warning to businesses, emphasizing the need for adherence to food safety norms to protect consumers and prevent further penalties.
