Srinagar: Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar after assuming charge as Vice Chairman J&K LCMA along with all officers of the Authority took an extensive tour of the Dal & Nigeen Lake to assess the measures being undertaken by the LCMA for the conservation and management of the lake.
He also visited various interior areas/back water channels and passed instructions to the officers on the spot for solid waste collection, and also directed to organize a massive deweeding drive for important inflow/ outflow channels.
Moreover, civil society was also requested to extend cooperation and monitor solid waste collection/de-weeding by forming Mohalla committees which will also ensure that no solid waste is dumped into the Channels/ Lake.
He also undertook inspection of various Mechanical equipments including lake cleaning Machinery and directed the concerned division to keep the machines functional and in a state of readiness to carry out deweeding operations in a well-planned manner under proper supervision before the onset of de-weeding season.
He stressed that my priority would be to make sincere efforts for restoration/conservation of Dal and Nageen Lake.
He also emphasized the need of stopping the menace of illegal constructions and encroachment, if any, in the jurisdiction of LCMA.
