Srinagar,:- J&K government is working on a consolidation of existing health facilities as around 4000 health institutions function at various levels.
Replyiny to a question of Gh Mohidin Mir MLA Rajpora, health Minister Sakina Itoo said the department is regularly improving public services delivery through strengthening infrastructure, human resources, equipment and services etc. in health institutions by provisioning of resources from time to time to bridge the critical gaps.
“Several healthcare facilities are catering to the healthcare needs of Rajpora Constituency as a total of 34 health facilities of which 31 have been upgraded to Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) to provide improved packages of services.” She said.
“The CHC Rajpora which is proximity to District Hospital Pulwama (11 km) is already catering to secondary-level healthcare services to the residents of the area. CHC Rajpora has sanctioned strength of 07 specialists, 12 Medical Officers, and 54 paramedical staff.” Sakina said.
“The upcoming Tertiary Care facility AIIMS, Awantipora, Kashmir is also strategically located at a distance of 25 Kms. So it cannot be said that the health facilities in Rajpora Constituency have not been upgraded to next levels in so many years.” Sakina added.
“As of now, J&K is working on consolidation of existing health facilities as around 4000 health institutions at various levels (Primary, Secondary and Tertiary) exists. J&K is among the top runners amongst large States/UTs (with population more than 1 Crore) in health institution density in the country. The calculations worked as per the Report published in 2023 by MoHFW, Gol indicates that J&K has health institution on every 3500 souls against an average 6000 souls at national level.” She said.
“Moreover, the feasibility for up-gradation/ new are examined in terms of IPHS-2022 norms.” She added.
Replying to another question regarding Murran village, Village Murran is centrally located with population of 5340 souls as per Census 2011 and the projected population is around 6000 souls.
“The health facility at Murran has been upgraded to Health & Wellness Centre (HWC) (Ayushman Aarogya Mandir) in 2018-19 to provide the following services to inhabitants of area and its adjacent locations: Maternal health services, ANC, Immunization, NCDC Screening and Free diagnostic services.
“Moreover, 94 drugs are being provided free of cost to the patients. In addition, other healthcare facilities are also functioning in close proximity to cater to the healthcare needs of area which includes District Hospital Pulwama (1.5 kms from Murran), Primary Health Centre Newa (3 kms), NTPHC Pinglena (2.5 kms), Sub Cenrte Malangpore (05 kms) & Sub Centre Gongoo (04 kms).” She said further.—(JKNS)
