Srinagar: On the first Friday of Ramazan, devotees from across the Valley thronged major mosques and shrines to attend the congregational prayers.
The biggest congregational prayers were witnessed at Hazratbal shrine and Jamia Masjid in Srinagar where special arrangements were made for the Friday prayers, officials said.
Kashmir’s chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq delivered a sermon in the historic Jamia mosque, where a large gathering of worshippers had assembled.
Mirwaiz highlighted the immense significance of this blessed month, emphasizing that it provides a profound opportunity to connect with Allah.
He stressed the importance of Taqwa (piety and consciousness of Allah), stating that “by embracing it, we can transform ourselves into better individuals and collectively build a better society.”
The chief cleric urged the congregation to utilize this holy month for self-reflection, spiritual growth, and acts of righteousness.
The gathering witnessed an atmosphere of devotion and spirituality, with worshippers deeply engaged in prayers and supplication.
