DDC Kulgam takes holistic review of RDD&PR sector

Kulgam: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Thursday chaired a meeting of Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj (RDD&PR) at Mini-Secretariat here to review the functioning, progress and implementation status of various schemes in the district.
During the meeting, the DDC took a detailed review of progress achieved under various programs and initiatives in the RDD sector.
It was informed that under MGNREGA, 7263 works were taken, out of which 6257 works were completed till date.
Additionally, 2377724 person-days (PDS) were generated till date.
Reviewing the progress under PMAY (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana) units, the chair was informed that against 5868 sanctioned units, 5291 units have been completed by the end of February.
The DDC directed Officers to ensure the completion of all PMAY units promptly. He emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of work to meet annual targets and ensure timely payment of wages.
Reviewing the progress under the district capex budget it was informed that against the allotted works of 1589, 1329 works have been taken up while 1118 works have been completed till date.
He also reviewed the progress in solid waste management, door-to-door waste collection in panchayats and construction and completion status of community soakage pits, and community compost pits.
The chair was informed that under SBM against a target of 52 works, 39 have been taken up and 28 have been completed, while in community soakage pits component under MGNREGA, 17 works have been taken up and 7 have been completed.
The DDC stressed Tehsildars and BDOs to identify suitable land for composite pits and Gram Panchayat Ghars to be constructed.
He also underscored the importance of maximum onsite work inspections to ensure quality of works.
He directed Officers to scale up the execution of all works and ensure time-bound completion without compromising quality.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Altaf Ahmad, ACD, ACP, Ex. Engineer REW, all BDOs, AEEs, AEs, VLWs and GRSs.
