Srinagar : Mega awareness-cum-workshop was successfully conducted by the Legal Metrology Department (LMD), Kashmir, at Green Valley Educational Institute, IllahiBagh, Srinagar to educate attendees on the department’s mandate and the significance of accurate measurements in daily life.
Both teaching and non-teaching staff actively participated in the event.
Addressing the awareness programme, the Joint Controller, LMD Kashmir, highlighted the importance of precision in measurements and its impact on consumer rights.
A practical demonstration was also conducted, guiding the audience on key aspects of LPG safety, including detecting gas leaks, checking net weight and tare weight and verifying retest dates and mandatory declarations on cooking gas cylinders.
Additionally, valuable insights were provided on the safe use of LPG cylinders to prevent accidents.
The Assistant Controller, CP, LMD emphasized the importance of mandatory declarations on pre-packaged commodities, particularly focusing on Maximum Retail Price (MRP) and consumer protection measures.
The event was well received by the attendees, who expressed their appreciation for the department’s initiative in raising awareness about consumer safety and rights.
