Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan on Tuesday chaired the Multi Departmental – District Level Task Force (DLTF) meeting to review various measures for curbing illegal mining activities across different mining blocks of district Kupwara.
SSP Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad; ADC Kupwara, Mohd Rouf Rehman; Dy. SP Kupwara, District Mineral Officer, Executive Engineers of I&FC, DFOs, AD Fisheries and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the officers to work with added dedication and utmost coordination for monitoring and strictly restricting the illegal mining activities across the district.
She said that it is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders to make efforts towards the protection of the environment by preventing illegal and unlawful mining and directed the officers to conduct joint visits to the mining sites to monitor the mining activities.
DMO was directed to ensure that the CCTV Cameras are installed across river beds by the block owners.
It was given out in the meeting that a Control Room under the supervision of District Mining Officer will be established which shall be responsible for monitoring the feed of these CCTVs.
It was also given out that the block owners shall follow the guidelines strictly which include installation of cameras, pegging and other conditions.
The meeting also discussed various other measures including Constitution of Tehsil Level and Sub Level Committees to intensify the regulation of the mining activities.
