Srinagar, Feb 15 (JKNS): Despite clear directives from the Jammu and Kashmir High Court and the Chief Minister’s office, the JK Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has yet to issue admit cards for 22 students of Islamic Global School, putting their participation in the upcoming 10th board exams in jeopardy.

The court order a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS stated that the counsel for the defendants sought time to file a written statement, while the plaintiff’s counsel argued that denying registration would jeopardize the students’ academic future. The court was informed that the Chief Education Officer Srinagar and the Principal of Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Natipora had already recommended the registration renewal.

JKBOSE, however, claimed that the school had engaged in irregularities related to student admissions, leading to penalties in the past. Despite these concerns, the court noted that the affected students had met the necessary qualifications to appear for the exams.

Observing that further delays could ruin the students’ careers, the court found merit in the petition and ruled in their favor. It directed JKBOSE to accept their registration and examination forms, ensuring their participation in the board exams scheduled from February 17, 2025.

The court further stated that its order would be subject to objections from JKBOSE or other concerned parties, who may seek modifications or cancellations in the future.

A teacher from the school told JKNS that after receiving the court order, they immediately approached JKBOSE, but the chairman has not issued the admit cards. “We have been waiting at the board office, but nothing has been done yet,” the teacher said.

“We have been here since the afternoon. Tomorrow is Sunday, and the exams are scheduled for Monday, yet officials are not taking any action,” the teacher added.

Yesterday, after parents and school authorities sought intervention from the Chief Minister’s office, CM’s advisor Nasir Aslam assured JKNS that the issue had been discussed with the JKBOSE chairman and that a solution would be found. However, no action has been taken so far.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has expressed concern over the delay. In a post on X, she said Despite court orders, the BOSE chairman has yet to approve the file for the students of Islamic Global School. The entire school management and the students’ families are under immense distress, waiting outside the BOSE office in Srinagar. With the first paper scheduled for Monday, there has been no response or direction from the BOSE chairman so far. Request the Chief Minister to intervene in this matter.

The delay has sparked outrage, as the court had already ruled in favor of the students, directing JKBOSE to process their registrations and allow them to sit for the exams. With time running out, parents and students fear their academic future is at stake. (JKNS)
