Srinagar: Passengers and vehicle owners have raised concerns over alleged overcharging in parking areas at Srinagar airport. Many claim they are being charged excessively, even for short durations, without clear justification.

A local, Sahil Ahmad, told news agency JKNS, saying that he parked his vehicle briefly to drop off a colleague inside the airport. “When I returned after just six minutes, I was handed a receipt of ₹40. If such a high rate applies for a few minutes, what will be the charge for an hour?” he questioned.

Several others made similar complaints, urging authorities to review the parking fee structure. They called for transparency in pricing and proper regulation to prevent overcharging.

Another local, Ishfaq Ahmad, said, “I just dropped a relative inside the airport, and the parking man charged me ₹40 for 10 minutes. This is injustice. That means we have to pay ₹40 for pick and drop.”

When contacted, Director Airport Javid Anjum told JKNS that there is no overcharging. “We have a set fee structure. A vehicle parked from 0 Minutes up to 30 minutes is charged ₹40, while a vehicle parked for two hours is charged ₹65. There is no overcharging,” Anjum said. (JKNS)
