Pulwama: Residents of Ratnipora village in Pulwama district are up in arms against the authorities for failing the removal of encroachment by a local on the Ratnipora-Gulbug road that connects their village to other nearby areas.
The residents claimed that the road was encroached in November by a former Lambardar by constructing a tin-shop near the Main Bridge to sell meat, has narrowed the road, causing difficulties for commuters and posing a risk to their traffic movement.
They alleged that despite repeated complaints, the revenue authorities have failed to take action against the encroacher.
“The road is narrow, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for us to commute. We demand that the authorities take immediate action to remove these encroachment and widen the road.”
They also demanded that the authrities take action against the officials who have failed to prevent the encroachments.
The local administration has assured the residents that their demands will be looked into and take action against the encroacher.
“We will also explore the possibility of widening the road to facilitate smooth traffic flow.”
The residents have welcomed the administration’s assurance, but they remain skeptical until the action is done.
