“People are saying they voted, but no work is happening on the ground. We understand that business rules are not yet clear, and statehood has not been restored, but there is a sense of cynicism among the people,” he said.

“There are two reasons for this—either a democratically elected government is not being allowed to function, or officials in various positions are uncertain due to unclear business rules,” Karra added.

He further said that people voted on issues like high electricity bills, smart meters, and unemployment, and both Congress and the National Conference (NC) had promised to address these concerns in their manifestos.

When asked whether Congress would contest elections in Budgam and Nagrota in alliance with NC, Karra said, “It’s too early to comment on this. We will hold meetings and then make a decision.”

“Many DPAP leaders who had left Congress now want to rejoin,” he added. (JKNS)
