Kulgam: A traffic awareness program aimed at educating students, drivers, and passengers about road safety was successfully held at Kulgam. The initiative sought to raise awareness on the importance of adhering to traffic rules and adopting safe driving practices in a bid to reduce accidents and fatalities.

The event was led by DTI Qazigund, Inspector Lalit Sharma, under the supervision of DySP Kulgam Mohammad Aslam and the overall guidance of SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh. Key safety measures were discussed, highlighting the vital role that both drivers and passengers play in ensuring road safety.

During the event, Inspector Lalit Sharma urged people to avoid driving without necessary documents, such as a driving license, and appealed to parents not to hand over vehicles like scooters, bikes, and cars to minors. He assured the public that the traffic police are always available to assist and reiterated that their primary goal is to ensure the safety of citizens.

The program is part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month 2025 campaign, which runs from January 1 to January 31. This month-long initiative aims to promote safer road practices across India and reduce road accidents and fatalities.

In response, transporters and citizens who attended the program assured the authorities that they would follow traffic rules and guidelines moving forward. Similar awareness drives will continue in the future as part of efforts to foster safe driving habits among the public.
