Chowkibal: A Tata Sumo milk supply vehicle (registration number JK05N 2838), which left Chowkibal at 8 AM for Karnah, met with an accident while crossing Sadhna Top at 11 AM due to slippery road conditions caused by heavy snowfall. The vehicle has been transporting milk from Sopore to Karnah for several years.
According to sources, the vehicle skidded off the snow-covered road and plunged down the slope. Initial reports suggest that the primary reason for the accident was the use of only one anti-skid chain, which proved inadequate for the treacherous terrain.
The Indian Army personnel stationed at Sadhna Top responded promptly to the incident, providing immediate medical aid and moving the injured to a safer location. The army utilized pre-arranged warm clothing and first aid supplies to offer relief. Fortunately, both injured individuals sustained minor injuries and are out of danger.
Authorities have urged commuters to exercise extreme caution while traveling in snow-covered areas and to ensure their vehicles are equipped with proper safety measures. Local residents have appreciated the swift response of the Indian Army, acknowledging their timely intervention in preventing a major mishap.
