SHOPIAN: The two-day Heemal Nagrai Winter Carnival at Dubjan Shopian wrapped up today, drawing enthusiastic crowds of locals and tourists who attended in unprecedented numbers.

The concluding day of the festival saw thousands flocking to the enchanting venue of Dubjan.

Attendees explored various tourist attractions along the Mughal Road and the Heerpora Wildlife Network, participating in a wide array of adventure, recreational, and sports activities.

The administration organized a series of snow games, including snow volleyball, hockey, and tug of war, along with opportunities for adventurous activities such as zip lining, skiing, snow trekking, ATV rides, snow biking, and horse riding.

Key highlights of the festival included horse riding to the Hot Sulphur Springs of Dubjan, snow trekking to the springs and upper meadows, and exhilarating activities like zip lines, snow biking, and ATVs.

The event also featured captivating cultural and artistic performances by local artists, alongside exhibitions showcasing Kashmiri and tribal art that delighted and amazed attendees.

An award ceremony was held during the concluding session to honor stakeholders, including adventure groups, traders’ associations, media representatives, and various departments.

The festival aimed to highlight the stunning beauty of Shopian, emphasizing its renowned tourist attractions along the Mughal Road to enhance tourism in the district.

Deputy Commissioner of Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar, commended the local community for their enthusiastic involvement, which contributed to the success of the inaugural Winter Carnival, promising to boost tourism in the area.
