ACB Files Disproportionate Assets Cases Against Two SSCL Officials

Srinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered two cases against Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) officials, accusing them of possessing assets beyond their known sources of income and living a lavish lifestyle.

Addressing a press conference in Jammu, ACB officials as per the news agency JKNS the accused have been identified as Sajid Yousuf Bhat, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Zahoor Ahmad Dar, Executive Engineer. According to the ACB, both officials have accumulated wealth through corrupt practices.

Sajid Yousuf Bhat allegedly owns a commercial property in Rambagh, Srinagar, and has multiple bank accounts with suspicious transactions. He is accused of acquiring assets far exceeding his lawful income. A case under FIR No. 01/2025 has been filed against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, they said.

Similarly, Zahoor Ahmad Dar is said to own a luxurious multi-storied house in Shalteng, Srinagar, a sedan car, and has suspicious bank transactions in his and his spouse’s accounts. The ACB also found evidence of benami properties and fixed deposits in his name. A separate FIR No. 02/2025 has been registered against him under the same Act.

They added, searches are currently being conducted at seven locations related to the accused, and the investigation is ongoing.—(JKNS)
