Jammu Police Takes Action Against Notorious Drug Peddler Under PIT-NDPS Act

Jammu: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Jammu Police has booked a notorious drug peddler from the Miran Sahib area under the stringent PIT-NDPS Act and lodged him in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.

The accused, identified as Mohd. Mushtaq alias Chani, son of Mohd. Buta, resident of Kothey Sheikh, Miran Sahib, has been a known offender with multiple FIRs registered against him under the NDPS Act. Despite earlier arrests, he continued his involvement in drug trade, targeting local youth for monetary gains.

To prevent his recurring criminal activities, the Police recommended his detention under the PIT-NDPS Act. The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, after reviewing the dossier, issued formal detention orders, leading to his imprisonment.

The operation was carried out by a team from Police Station Miran Sahib, led by SHO Miran Sahib, under the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura, SP Headquarters Jammu, and overall guidance of SSP Jammu.

The locals have praised the Jammu Police for their efforts in addressing the drug menace in the area. Jammu and Kashmir Police has reiterated its commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and urged citizens to share any information that could help in making society drug-free.

This decisive action by Jammu Police sends a strong message against drug-related crimes, ensuring a safer and healthier community for all.
