Shopian : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kashmir and recovered contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Budgam, Police Station Magam received inputs about one Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh S/o Abdul Razak Sheikh R/o Mazhama Magam having concealed narcotic substance in his residential house for its illegal sale among youth of the area following which a Police party of Police Station Magam led by SHO Magam raided the house and during search recovered 50 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the said residential house besides arresting the accused owner .
Stating that in Awantipora a Police party at a checkpoint established at Sail Crossing, arrested a drug peddler identified as Kifayat Shafiq S/o Shafiq Ahmad Bhat R/o Sail Awantipora and during search recovered 3.5 Kgs of grinded Cannabis the possession of the said accused, Police in its statement further said in Shopian also a Police party of Police Station Shopian at a checkpoint established at Batapora Shopian arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohd Ishaq Khanday @Hie Khanday S/o Gh Qadir Khanday R/o Khanday Mohallah Bonbazar Shopian and during search recovered 62 grams of Charas from the possession of the said accused.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reaffirmed its commitment to eliminate drug peddling in the region with the full might of law. Police also warned that those engaged in this unlawful activity will have to face action sooner than anticipated and every offender will face justice.
