Drug Peddler Nabbed with 10 Kg Poppy Straw in Jammu’s Sidhra Area

Jammu: Jammu Police arrested a drug peddler in Sidhara area on December 24, 2024 and seized 10 kg of opium straw (bukki), marking a major breakthrough under the anti-narcotics operation Sanjeevi.

An oil tanker (Registration No. JK02AN/7702) was intercepted by a police surveillance team from the Sithon Police Station. During a routine checkpoint inspection at Siddharasetu. Suspicions arose when the driver tried to stop a tanker going from Nagrota to Narwal, however, a police alert team acted quickly and arrested the driver.

The accused was identified as Kamaljeet Singh, son of Surjeet Singh, a resident of Gole Gujral Ranjitpur in Jammu city, during search of the vehicle. thoroughly Police found 10 kilograms of poppy grass hidden in a tanker truck.

After recovery, an FIR (No. 332/2024) was registered at Thana Nagrota under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. The tanker was seized. and is undergoing further investigation to uncover the supply chains and networks involved in drug trafficking.

The operation is part of the Jammu Police’s intensified efforts to deal with the growing drug menace in the region. The police’s proactive approach has been praised by the local community. which recognizes their dedication to public safety.

Police officials reaffirm their commitment to eradicating drug trafficking. and asks citizens to be vigilant and report suspicious activity to law enforcement agencies.

This arrest sends a clear message to drug traffickers that such illegal activities will not be tolerated. and will be strictly managed.
