Srinagar police launches drive to curb misuse of SIM cards

Srinagar: As bid to prevent the misuse of SIM cards and ensure adherence to established regulations, District Police Srinagar has launched a comprehensive drive aimed at inspecting SIM card vendors across the district.

“The initiative seeks to guarantee that SIM cards are issued strictly according to prescribed rules and guidelines. Special teams from each police station across all five zones of District Srinagar have been deployed to carry out the inspection within their respective jurisdictions,” reads a statement issued, a copy of which lies with the news agency JKNS.

It reads as, on the first day of the drive, over 100 SIM card vendors were meticulously scrutinized to confirm that SIM cards are being issued only to individuals with valid credentials.

“This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the District Police to promote the lawful use of SIM cards and strengthen accountability in their distribution. The police remain dedicated to safeguarding the public and maintaining the integrity of communication networks to prevent misuse of SIM cards for criminal activities,” reads the statement.

“The inspection drive will continue in the coming days as part of the broader objective to ensure the security of all citizens,” it reads further.—(JKNS)
