According to details collected by the news agency JKNS, she began mushroom cultivation four years ago, exploring its potential alongside vegetables. Originally from Veernag, and during a visit to Kupwara with the Territorial Army, she was encouraged to start a business.

“That’s when I decided on mushroom cultivation. With guidance from the Agriculture Department, I received support from the local community,” she said.

She added that with fewer government job opportunities for educated women, farming at home could provide a sustainable alternative. “Growing vegetables and mushrooms at home offers a way for women to support themselves,” she said. —(JKNS)
