Srinagar: Two persons died when a truck ran over them at Jammu Kashmir’s Kulgam district during the intervening night, officials said.

They said the accident took place at Pambay Nihama when a speedy trailer truck on the way to Kulgam ran over the two persons on the road during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, injuring both critically.

The injured were shifted to a nearby health facility where both of them succumbed, they said.

The deceased have been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Rather (34) and Mukhtar Ahmad Itoo (28) both residents of Gopalpora Kulgam.

The driver reportedly fled away from the spot after committing the accident.

Police have launched a man-hunt to trace the driver and initiated proceedings in the case.
