Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said a police party led by Incharge Police Post Toll Plaza at a checkpoint established at Kaigam Crossing intercepted a suspect identified as Sahil Rashid Parray S/o Ab Rashid Parray R/o Jawbara Awantipora and during search recovered 23 grams of cannabis like substance from his possession.
Stating that a case under FIR no 171/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Awantipora besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
