Drug Peddler Evading Arrest Tracked Down; Booked Under PIT-NDPS Act In Srinagar: Police

Srinagar: Police on Monday said a drug peddler namely Adil Rashid Bhat @Raj Tanker S/o Ab Rashid Bhat @ Mama R/o Usmanabad Bemina has been booked by Srinagar Police under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act (PIT-NDPSA).
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the accused was involved in several cases of drug peddling including case FIR No. 08/2021 u/s 8/22 NDPS Act of PS Shergari, 119/2022 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act of Police Station Baramulla and 30/2023 u/s 8/22,27 NDPS Act of Police Station Batamaloo.
Police in its statement further said that keeping in view the persistent involvement in the illicit sale and distribution of drugs and narcotics of the accused through illegal network among the youth, a comprehensive dossier was prepared by Srinagar Police and warrants for lodging him in jail under PIT-NDPS Act were obtained from Divisional Commissioner Kashmir.
Stating that the accused kept evading his arrest and had fled to Jammu and then to Delhi, Police in its statement further said that how due to resolute efforts of Police, on 6th December the said accused was apprehended by Police Station Batamaloo and lodged in Central Jail Srinagar to serve his detention. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its commitment for zero tolerance against drug peddling.
