Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession in Jammu Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Police on Friday said that during checking, a police party of Magam intercepted two suspicious persons carrying Nylon bag at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Magam, who on seeing the Police Party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully.
During their search, Heroin like substance weighing about 11 grams and a digital weighing machine were recovered from their possession, police said.
The accused were identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Parray a resident of Hardu-Malpora Beerwah and Aamir Farooq wani of Arath Budgam.
A case FIR No 155/2024 U/S 8/21 of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Magam and further investigation has been taken up.
In a similar action, a Police Party at Chadoora established a Naka at Sheikhpora Wathoora crossing and apprehended one suspicious person who was carrying a nylon bag. Upon seeing the Police Party he tried to flee from the spot, however the Police party chased him tactfully.
During preliminary questioning, he revealed his identity as Irfan Amin Sheikh a resident of Dooniwari Chadoora and during search 7 sticks (Lathis) of charas like substance weighing about 230 gms wrapped in Corn Maize husk with 1100 grams of semi-grinded powder like substance apparently charas was recovered from his possession.
He was arrested on spot and accordingly a case FIR No. 172 /2024 U/s 8/20 was registered in Police Station Chadoora and further investigation was set into motion.
District Police Budgam have urged the general public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood.
