SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Thursday convened a meeting to review operation & maintenance of Srinagar Airport besides services & facilities for air travelers.

The meeting was attended by Director Airport,  Srinagar, Javid Anjum;  officers of IAF, BCAS, CRPF, CISF, AAI, Airlines;  Managers of  IOCL, BPCL & HPCL and other concerned departments.

The meeting deliberated over re-carpeting work, availability of Operational and Maintenance staff, availability of Transport facility from city to Airport & vice versa, availability of accommodation for Tourists in city, medical facility during extended hours of operation and other issues.

Addressing the meeting, Divisional Commissioner underscored the significance of Srinagar Airport for ensuring round the clock connectivity of Valley with rest of the country.

He urged stakeholders for up gradation of services for enhancing the comfortable & convenient experience of air travellers & tourists.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir also asked all the Airlines to increase the frequency of their flights to Srinagar as the Airport is operating only 35 flights per day as of now as against approved Slot of 51 flights per day.

Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir emphasised that detailed deliberations should be done before the proposed planning of re-carpeting work  so that there is minimum impact to Civil Aircraft Operations.

In view of re-carpeting, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir insisted that the closure period for Runway should be minimized so that there can be a wider window of Civil Aircraft Operations.

He also reviewed immediate requirements to be addressed including enhancement of manpower and services for extended watch hours.
