Karnah Kupwara: Kisan Mela was held at Dak Bungalow, Tangdar, in the Karnah region of Kupwara district, drawing hundreds of farmers and beneficiaries from across the valley. The event featured the Area Development Officer Vegetables Kupwara, Mr. Mushtaq Sahib, as the Chief Guest, alongside key stakeholders, including members of civil society, senior citizens, agricultural officers, and media persons.

 

The program commenced with the recitation of Quran Shareef, followed by an informative session conducted by Agricultural Extension Officers. These officers discussed the benefits of various agricultural practices, including government schemes, strategies to boost the rural economy, and the effective use of fertilizers, pesticides, and insecticides.

 

Mr. Mushtaq Sahib, the Area Development Officer Vegetables, delivered a detailed lecture on how to cultivate vegetables and the proper use of fertilizers and manure to enhance soil fertility and crop yield. His insights helped the farmers understand better farming techniques, essential for improving productivity.

 

Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Lone, a prominent expert, also delivered a comprehensive lecture on the importance of modern agricultural practices. His talk was well-received by the farmers, who expressed appreciation for the valuable insights. Mr. Aftab , the event incharge, further emphasized the benefits of the Kisan Mela and highlighted its importance for the agricultural community.

 

During the event, District Agricultural Officer Kupwara, Mr. Tariq Ahmad Mir, stressed that the primary goal was to raise awareness among farmers about government-sponsored schemes and ensure their successful implementation.

 

Members of civil society, including Mr. Raja Nazir Ahmad, Abdul Rashid Lone, and Nisaar Mir, engaged in discussions with the officers and farmers, emphasizing the importance of effective management and implementation of agricultural schemes for the betterment of the farming community in Karnah.

 

The Kisan Mela also featured numerous exhibition and sale counters from departments such as Animal Husbandry, Floriculture, Horticulture, and Agriculture, offering a variety of products and services to enhance agricultural productivity in the region.

 

The event proved to be a significant platform for the exchange of ideas, providing valuable guidance, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in the Karnah valley.
