*Bandipora, October 21, 2024*: Bandipora Police today observed Police Commemoration Day to pay tribute to the brave police personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
The main commemoration ceremony was held at District Police Lines Bandipora, where Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora Shri Harmeet Singh Mehta -JKPS accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shri Manzoor Ahmad Qadri-KAS, led the homage by laying wreaths and offering flowers to the martyrs at ‘Martyrs Memorial’ along with family members of Police Martyrs.
A two-minute silence was observed, followed by a commemoration parade, where SSP Bandipora took the salute,led by parade commander DYSP Hqrs Bandipora Shri Lateef Ahmad Khan-JKPS . The event was also attended by officers/officials of Bandipora police, members from Civil Society, family members of police martyrs and other officers who also showered floral tribute to the martyrs of police forces.
In his address, SSP Bandipora Shri Harmeet Singh Mehta -JKPS expressed deep respect for the courage, valour, and sacrifices of the police martyrs who laid down their lives for the unity and integrity of the nation.
The event also included the distribution of gifts to the families of the martyrs. SSP Bandipora & DC Bandipora also interacted with the Next of Kin (NOK) of the police martyrs, listening to their grievances and assuring them of all possible support and assistance.
Similar commemoration ceremonies were also held at different police establishments in the district.
