Srinagar : Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid has called on the authorities in Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaJK) to reconsider the charges imposed on residents of Saadpora Forward for irrigation water. During a two-day visit to Karnah, Rashid met with senior military and civil officials to address critical regional issues, including the water shortage faced by local farmers.

Rashid expressed concern that Saadpora residents are unable to irrigate their fields due to the frequent interruption of water supply from across the border, leaving them unable to cultivate their land. He received assurances from the authorities that the matter would be addressed swiftly.

Villagers revealed that they rely on water from PaJK for irrigation and are being charged for this essential lifeline, which Rashid described as an unfair burden. In an emotional appeal, Rashid urged PaJK officials to abolish these charges, stressing that access to water, a vital source of life and livelihood, should not come at a cost—especially given the unity between people on both sides of the border.
