Kupwara 17 Oct 24:
In continuity to the never ending efforts to eradicate drug menace from society, Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers organised Drug de-addiction cum awareness lecture at Doon International School of Batergam , Kupwara. The programme was aimed at providing insight to the students, teachers and locals about seriousness of drug addiction. Due to lack of employment opportunities and education in the far flung areas , the youth of Kupwara become more vulnerable to this menace. The awareness lecture was conducted by a team of doctors from SDH Kupwara including Dr Sheikh Shahid Shafi, Clinical Psychologist cum Counselor, Dr Mehraj-ud-Din Drug de-addiction centre Kupwara and Medical officer from Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers.
The event which was presided by CO Kupwara Terriers alongwith team of doctors from SDH Kupwara , was attended by about 120 Students, 20 staff members of the school and officers from Kupwara Terriers.
At last vote of thanks to the doctors from SDH Kupwara, School staff, students and locals was given by the chief guest CO Kupwara Terriers. The officer assured them for every possible support in eradication of drug menace in the area.
This effort from Indian Army was highly appreciated by the locals and they look forward for more such events from Army in future.
