Karnah, Kupwara:Public anger has been mounting in Karnah Valley over power curtailment, which has stretched for a week, causing significant distress to local residents. The situation prompted Javaid Ahmad Mirchal, MLA of Karnah, to intervene and raise the issue with senior district and power department officials.

In a crucial meeting with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Kupwara and the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Power Department, Mr. Mirchal conveyed the frustrations of the people, highlighting the severe impact of the power outages on daily life. The prolonged cuts have led to disruptions in routine activities, with residents expressing anger over the lack of immediate solutions.

Mr. Mirchal also engaged in discussions with the Chief Engineer of the Power Development Department (PDD), stressing the urgency of the matter. He emphasized that the people of Karnah have endured significant hardship and that prompt action is needed to restore normalcy.

The officials explained that the primary cause of the ongoing power curtailment is maintenance work, specifically the cutting of tree branches near power lines to prevent damage and ensure safety. They reassured Mr. Mirchal that this work is in its final stages and that the power supply would be restored according to the established schedule in the coming days.

The MLA expressed his deep concern about the prolonged disruption and urged the officials to expedite the remaining work to ease the burden on the residents of Karnah. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the people’s grievances are addressed swiftly and efficiently. The local administration, in response, has assured that steps are being taken to prevent further delays and restore uninterrupted power to the region.
