KUPWARA, SEPTEMBER 28: As part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative, a mega voter awareness event was organized today at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Kupwara in assembly constituency 3-Kupwara.
Mega SVEEP event was presided over by the District Election Officer, ( DEO) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan which focused to highlight the importance of voting and inspire greater electoral involvement, particularly among the youth and first-time voters.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of RO 3-Kupwara, Peerzada Mumtaz, AC Nodal Officer SVEEP, HOI’s of Cluster concerned, staff of BHSS, first time voters, students, educators, and local residents, helping to make it a pivotal step towards promoting voter education and strengthening democratic participation ensuring that every voice is heard and every vote counts.
The event which commenced with singing of National anthem featured a range of activities designed to engage the local community. Special sessions were held to educate students, teachers, and community members about the electoral process, significance of each vote, and the role of elections in strengthening democracy.
Interactive presentations and discussions provided insights into the importance of ethical voting and how every vote contributes to shaping the future of the nation.
DEO, while addressing the gathering highlighted the importance of increasing electoral participation, particularly focusing on encouraging women, tribal communities, Persons with Disabilities ( PwDs), other vulnerable groups and first time voters.
DEO urged all the groups to exercise their right to vote, stressing their active participation is crucial for their future as well as for the progress and development.
She also urged students to inspire and motivate your parents, relative and friends to cast their votes and ensure that no voter is left behind.
DEO said that all necessary arrangements for smooth voting are in place and all basic facilities have been provided in polling stations which include drinking water, accessibility features such as ramps, wheelchairs etc.
The programme also featured vibrant cultural performances by local students, local artists and other cultural groups whose performances underscored the significance of voting in a democracy.
The SVEEP programme concluded with a strong appeal to the public to engage actively in the upcoming elections, reaffirming that every vote contributes to the shaping of the district’s future.
