Karnah, Kupwara— Nestled in the picturesque region of North India, Karnah Assembly constituency is a vital part of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, representing the interests of its constituents in this strategically significant area. Established in 1962, Karnah is part of the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency and lies within the Kupwara district of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.

Over the years, Karnah has seen a diverse array of representatives from various political backgrounds of the Jammu & Kashmir as per the previous candidates who ruled out in Karnah till now Mohd Anwar Shah Masoodi (NC) 1952

Raja Manzoor Ahmad (PDP) 2014 National Conference, who was the first elected member in 1962, to the notable presence of independent candidates and other regional parties, the constituency has often been a battleground for political ideologies.

Significant milestones include the tenure of Ghulam Qadir Mir and Abdul Gani Lone, both of whom shaped the political landscape during their respective terms. The political dynamics shifted notably in 2014 when Raja Manzoor Ahmad of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (JKPDP) won the seat with 47.75% of the votes, reflecting a robust support base.
