SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 18: The Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) set up by District Administration Shopian at all polling stations across the district ensured the voting process smooth and accessible for all sections of society to facilitate inclusive and participatory voting during the poll day, today.
Special attention was given to PwD and elderly voters. Polling stations had ramps set up and wheelchairs were provided ensuring that specially-abled individuals could cast their votes without any hindrance.
Queue management and the oversight of AMF facilities were diligently handled by Help Desk staff including BLOs, ASHAs, AWWs, Panchayat Secretaries, and GRS and other frontline staff
They were instrumental in assisting voters, especially specially-abled and old, managing queues, and ensuring that all necessary facilities, such as water, sanitation, and clean toilets, were maintained throughout the polling process.
These dedicated teams also played a key role in the boarding and lodging of polling parties and addressing the welfare needs of polling personnel.
The effective management of queues and facilities aimed to enhance voter comfort and streamline the voting process, particularly for the elderly and specially-abled voters for realising the goal of broad and inclusive participation.
Additionally, special sanitation drives along with Plantation drives were conducted at all Polling stations, exhibiting the district’s commitment to hygiene & environmental sustainability.
10 Special and unique polling stations were also set up, 5 in each Constituency which were managed by PwD, women, youth etc.
These extensive arrangements underscore the District Administration’s commitment to making elections in Shopian inclusive, safe, and accessible for everyone.
