Anantnag Police Intensifies Crackdown on Illicit Liquor Trade

Anantnag, Sep 13: In a major drive against illicit liquor, Anantnag Police have arrested four individuals and seized a significant quantity of contraband in recent operations.

During routine naka checking at Tulkhan Crossing, a Police party from Police Post Sangam apprehended Javeed Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Mohammad Dar, resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara, who was found transporting several bottles of illicit liquor while traveling from Tulkhan towards the National Highway. The accused was arrested, and the contraband seized.

In a separate operation at Sarnal Chowk, a Police party from PP Sherbagh intercepted a motorcycle (registration number JK03A-3607) and recovered illicit liquor from the possession of motorcyclist Mohd Maqsood Mansoori, son of Mohd Ishaq, resident of Bana Ara Amarpur, District Banka, Bihar. The accused was arrested, and the liquor was seized.

Additionally, during a routine vehicle check near GMC Dialgam, a passenger auto (registration number JK03G-0349) traveling from Larkipora to Anantnag was stopped. A search of the auto led to the recovery of multiple sealed bottles of illicit liquor. Two individuals onboard, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Tramboo and Nazir Ahmad Rather, were arrested.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Stations Bijbehara and Anantnag, and further investigations are ongoing.

Anantnag Police remain resolute in their efforts to combat the illegal liquor trade and ensure the safety of the community through vigilant enforcement of the law.
