Srinagar, 13 Sep: The residents of Chatterhama have expressed their deep disappointment over the non-macadamization of roads in their area, a problem that has persisted for the past ten years. Locals have voiced their frustration, questioning the government’s claims of development when basic infrastructure like proper roads is still lacking.

“We have been suffering from this issue for the past decade, and it gets worse in the winters when these unmacadamized roads are washed away,” said a local resident. “We have knocked on the doors of every concerned office, including the DC office, but all we’ve received are fake promises. It seems like no one cares about the people here. Is this the ‘Naya Kashmir’ they always talk about?”

Residents report that despite their efforts, which included approaching multiple officials and departments, their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. They now feel that their only remaining option is to protest in front of the R&B office to draw attention to their plight.

“We have tried all the legal ways, once it was also in the tender, but nothing has happened. We believe this issue will only be resolved if we protest. We have no other option left,” the resident added.

The people of Chatterhama allege that none of the officials are taking the matter seriously, leading to daily hardships for the community. With winter just a few months away, the locals are demanding the immediate macadamization of the roads to prevent further deterioration of living conditions during the harsh weather.
