MLA Ahsan Pardesi Welcomes ₹8 Cr River Jhelum Embankment Project, Calls It Major Boost to Flood Safety in Lal Chowk

Srinagar, Jan 6 (JKNS): Ahsan Pardesi, MLA Lal Chowk, on Tuesday welcomes the tendering of the ₹8 crore Embankment Strengthening of River Jhelum in Lal Chowk constituency, terming it a decisive step towards safeguarding lives, property, and vital infrastructure from recurring flood threats.

As per news agency JKNS, The sanctioning of ₹8 crore for strengthening the embankments along River Jhelum reflects the government’s uncompromising resolve to shift from reactive damage control to proactive disaster prevention. This intervention underlines a governance approach rooted in foresight, accountability, and public safety, Ahsan said.

In this regard, Hon’ble MLA Lal Chowk, Ahsan Pardesi, expressed his sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, for his holistic and development-oriented vision for Jammu and Kashmir, stating that flood mitigation and infrastructure resilience remain central to sustainable development.

The Hon’ble MLA also extended appreciation to Hon’ble Minister for Irrigation and Flood Control, Javed Rana, the Additional Chief Secretary, INFC, and the Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineer, Executive Engineer, and all concerned engineers of the department for their swift, coordinated, and professional execution.

He lauded the Irrigation and Flood Control Department (INFC) for rising to the occasion with urgency and resolve, describing the initiative as timely, essential, and purely preventive in nature.

Ahsan Pardesi asserted that embankment protection works are not optional infrastructure projects but a critical shield against potential calamities.

He stated that these works will go a long way in fortifying flood defenses, minimizing risks, and ensuring long-term safety and relief for the people of Lal Chowk constituency and beyond. (JKNS)
