Srinagar Police Strike at Drug Cartel’s Wealth, Attach ₹1 Crore Property of Notorious Peddler

Srinagar, Dec 20 (JKNS): In a decisive move to cripple the financial backbone of the drug trade, Srinagar Police have attached a high-value residential property worth around ₹1 crore at Wantpora, Eidgah, belonging to a notorious drug peddler, reaffirming their zero-tolerance stance against narcotics and its illegal wealth.

Spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, In its sustained efforts to eliminate the menace of drugs from the society and dismantle the infrastructure supporting illegal narcotics trade, Srinagar Police has attached a double-storey residential house on 8 marlas of land situated at Wantpora Eidgah, belonging to notorious drug peddler namely Basit Bilal Dar S/o Bilal Ahmad Dar, R/o Wantpora, Eidgah, Srinagar, valued at approximately Rs 1 Crore.

The accused person is involved in case FIR No. 59/2024 under Sections 8/21 NDPS Act of PS Nowhatta and FIR No. 114/2025 under Sections 8/22–29 of NDPS Act of Police Station Safakadal, it reads.

The attachment was carried out under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
During the course of investigation, it was established that the accused Basit Bilal Dar had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities.
Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, it reads.

Statement further reads, The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the two independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures, it reads.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the said property till further orders, it reads.

Srinagar Police reaffirms its unwavering commitment to combat drug trafficking and to dismantle the financial networks that sustain the narcotics trade by targeting both offenders and the proceeds of crime, strictly in accordance with law, it resds.

The public is urged to cooperate by sharing credible information to help eliminate the drug menace from society, the statement reads. (JKNS)
