KISHTWAR: The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom Kishtwar under the guidance of District Administration Kishtwar and in collaboration with Hyrdo Electric Power Project (HEPP) Authorities, kick started six (06) new Skill Development Training Centres across various project-affected areas under the Resettlement and Rehabilitation (R&R) Plan of various HEPPs in district Kishtwar.
These training centres have been strategically established at six different locations which includes Bagna, Galharbhata, Padyarna, Agral, Kandni and Trigam of Kishtwar district to provide vocational training and employment-oriented skill to the local youth and affected families.
The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of inclusive development and aims to empower the local population with sustainable livelihood opportunities, especially those directly impacted by infrastructure and development projects in the region.
“This initiative marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts of Department of Handicrafts and Handloom to ensure that the benefits of developmental projects are extended equitably to the affected communities and ensure a sustainable resettlement and rehabilitation of Project effected people in district Kishtwar.
It is pertinent to mention here that, each training centre is equipped with modern facilities and trained instructors to conduct certified courses in various crafts which include Cutting and Tailoring, Crewal Embroidery, Crochet and Wheat Straw craft.
This step under the R&R framework reflects the district administration’s commitment to ensuring rehabilitation with dignity and development with equity.
