Srinagar July 9: In a thrilling blend of sports and social change, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K kicked off an inspiring Inter-Zonal District Level Football Competition under the powerful campaign “Play for Drug-Free Srinagar.” Held at the iconic Polo Ground, the tournament brings together 144 young footballers (U-17 boys) from all eight sports zones of Srinagar, turning the field into a battleground against substance abuse.
The event began on a heartfelt note, with players taking a solemn pledge to champion a drug-free Srinagar, administered by officials from the District YSS Office. The air buzzed with energy as the community rallied behind these young athletes, proving that sports can be a game-changer in shaping a healthier future. Amirakadal, Gulab Bagh, Hawal, and Batamaloo triumphed over their rivals Nishat, Zaldagar, Eidgah, and Rainawari in gripping matches that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
