Two Injured in Fire at Commercial Building in Safa Kadal, Blaze Contained Promptly

Srinagar, June 28 (JKNS): A fire broke out late Saturday evening in a double-storey commercial building near Lattar Masjid in the Safa Kadal area of Srinagar, causing minor injuries to two civilians and damaging a portion of the ground floor, officials said.

An official told news agency JKNS that the department received the alert at 21:43 hrs. “Our units from Safakadal, S.H. Pora, and Headquarters Srinagar responded quickly and reached the site by 21:49 hrs,” the official said.

He said that, “Two civilians sustained minor injuries before our teams arrived, One of the injured of resident of Noorshah Colony Sadapora, while another was resident of Shah Hamdan Colony Eidgah. Both were shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment.”

The fire was limited to one room on the ground floor, reportedly used as a medical store. F&ES teams managed to bring the blaze under control swiftly, and cooling operations were carried out to prevent further damage.

Cognizance has been taken and cause of the fire is being investigated. (JKNS)
