Kupwara Police Arrests Lady Smuggler with Narcotic Substance in Karnah

Karnah, June 28: In its continued crackdown on drug trafficking Kupwara Police today achieved a major breakthrough in a war against drugs when a woman was apprehended in possession of narcotic substances during a surprise naka in Karnah area.

A surprise naka was laid by Police Station Karnah at Hyderpad Gomal. During the naka checking one suspicious woman—later identified as Shafiya Begum resident of Karnah was seen walking on foot from Bagbella towards Tangdar. On seeing the police party she threw off the polythene bag she was carrying in an apparent attempt to avoid detection.

The alert naka party immediately recovered the black polythene bag and upon search heroin-like substance was found inside. The accused was arrested on the spot.

Accordingly a case FIR No. 33/2025 under sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Karnah and further investigation has been taken up to trace the full network involved.
