ACB Files Charge Sheet in ₹9,000 Bribe Case Against Former Patwari and Other in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 27 (JKNS): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a charge-sheet before the Court of Additional Judge Anti-Corruption, Kashmir in a bribery case involving two patwaris

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, has filed a charge- sheet under Section 173 Cr.P.C. before the Hon’ble Court of Addl. Judge Anti-Corruption, Kashmir in Case FIR No. 15/2022, against the following accused persons:

Jamil Hussain Khan, then Patwari Halqa Baghat-e-shoor, Owanta Bhawan, Soura, Tehsil Eidgah – Charged under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) and Section 120-B IPC, it reads.

Shafat-ur-Rehman Bhat, Retired Patwari – Charged under Section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 120-B IPC, it reads.

Statement further reads, The instant case was initiated following a complaint alleging that Jamil Hussain Khan, through his associate Shafat-ur-Rehman Bhat, demanded a bribe of ₹9,000 for processing revenue documents related to land records.

Acting on the complaint, a trap was laid by the ACB on 11.04.2022, resulting in the recovery of the tainted bribe amount from the accused, it reads.

After registration of Case FIR No. 15/2022 P/S ACB Srinagar Kashmir, the investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused and after the accord of Govt. sanction for launching prosecution, the challan of the case was produced before the Hon’ble court of Addl.Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar on 27.06.2025 for Judicial determination, it reads.

It is pertinent to mention here that the accused Shafat-ur-Rehman Bhat was already convicted in a corruption case registered against him in the year 2009. The next date of hearing is fixed on 13.08.2025, reads the statement. (JKNS)
