Sopore, June 21 (JKNS): A Mega Artisan Awareness Programme and Seminar was held at Dak Bungalow Sopore, organized by the Department of Handicrafts & Handloom, Block Sopore, District Baramulla, with an aim to educate and uplift the artisan community of the region.
The event featured detailed presentations by departmental officers and guest speakers, focusing on topics like marketing, e‑commerce, packaging, branding, GI tagging, and the export potential of local crafts. The initiative aimed to create a robust support network for artisans, providing them with modern techniques and knowledge to sustain their heritage skills and improve their economic prospects.
Honorable MLA Sopore, Irshad Rasool Kar, ADC Sopore S. A. Raina, Assistant Director Handicrafts/Handloom Baramulal Mohd Yousuf Lone, AR Induscous Handicraft baramullah M Ismail, HTO Pattan Yasmeen Jan,AHTO Sopore Ovais Ahmad Lone, AHTO baramulla Asif Manzoor Ganie, and Dr. Hina from the Handicrafts Faculty, Srinagar, were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
Government award‑winning artisans from the previous year also shared their inspiring success stories, highlighting the role of heritage crafts in economic empowerment.
